Community saves pantry”: 20,000 euros for a new future!
A piece of home has been lost in Leipzig-Schleußig. The “Pantry” at Holbeinstrasse 19 closed its doors on July 5th - a place that served as a meeting place and point of contact for fresh food for over two decades. Many residents attest that the small shop was more than just a shop; It was a place of retreat, a place to breathe and meet for the community, like that Leipzig Internet newspaper reported.
Andreas Kundt, the operator of the pantry, has struggled with an increasingly difficult financial situation and health problems in recent years. Despite his desire to continue running the store until mid-2024 and possibly find a successor, the time had ultimately come to say goodbye to this institution. The shop was a “little piece of home” for many people and is now greatly missed.
Crowdfunding for a new beginning
To support Andreas Kundt in his upcoming challenge, a group of friends launched a crowdfunding campaign. The goal: to collect a total of 20,000 euros to pay outstanding invoices, tax obligations as well as personnel and material costs. Within the first six days, 62 percent of the required amount was collected LVZ reported. The large outpouring of support shows how much people cared about the pantry.
A small solidarity farewell party is being planned to bring together the pantry's supporters and visitors. The exact date is yet to be announced, but anticipation is great.
Why crowdfunding?
In recent years, crowdfunding has become a popular way to mobilize financial support for ideas and projects. Many people often pool small amounts together in order to get closer to a common goal. In this case, the pantry could get a second chance with the help of the community. The platforms also offer different approaches, from donations to participation in the project, as shown on Jimdo is explained.
With good marketing and an appealing presentation of the campaign, it is promising to achieve the financing goal. Ultimately, supporters believe the pantry may be able to take a new, positive turn.
In summary, the closure of the pantry not only marks the end of a business, but also a call for the community to stand together and advocate for one another. Andreas Kundt and the circle of friends rely on solidarity to enable a new beginning. It remains to be hoped that the pantry can soon be a part of the neighborhood again - and perhaps it will return in a new form.
