A cheerful outlook in the crisis: tram manufacturer is fighting for survival!
Heiterblick, the traditional tram manufacturer from Leipzig, is deep in crisis. How lvz.de reported that the supplier Alstom has stopped the production of car bodies, which has serious consequences for Heiterblick GmbH. This decision comes in the middle of an already tense economic environment, which is further burdened by the corona pandemic and the effects of the war in Ukraine. The company is currently in insolvency proceedings, which were opened by the Leipzig District Court at the beginning of July. This realignment is intended to offer opportunities to stabilize and consolidate operations.
The Saxon Ministry of Economics sees the process as an opportunity for realignment and the preservation of jobs. The salaries of around 250 employees are currently secured for three months by the Federal Employment Agency. Heiterblick was founded 100 years ago and has made a name for itself as a reliable manufacturer of trams. Despite the serious financial difficulties, the effects on the Leipzig transport company (LVB) are currently unclear. However, it is known that LVB awarded Heiterblick a major order for 25 NGT12+ trams in 2020. Delivery was originally planned for 2023, but is now expected to take until early 2026.
Noise protection in Leipzig: measures and challenges
In addition to the economic misery, Leipzig has to deal with a serious noise problem.
