Cars keep burning in Leipzig. On the night of Wednesday, June 19, 2025, several vehicles were set on fire again. How MDR reported, this happened on Beipertstrasse in the Schleußig district and in a parking lot on Antonienstrasse in the Plagwitz district. A total of three cars were on fire, with one completely burned down and the other two only partially damaged. The financial damage is currently unclear.
There had been a series of similar incidents in this area in previous weeks. This is also indicated by the fact that the police are now investigating intentional arson. Particular attention is paid to the possible connections between these and the previous arsons. Overall, the night remained calm and no injuries were reported.
The police are asking the public for help. LVZ added that the fire brigade and police were on duty between 12:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. An investigation revealed that an incendiary device had been attached to the exterior mirror of one of the affected vehicles. However, this did not lead to a complete fire.
A similar series of fires took place in the same area over the weekend, in which a 36-year-old man was slightly injured. In this case, the public prosecutor's office is investigating attempted murder. The criminal police are looking for witness statements from people who made suspicious observations between June 17th and 18th or on Wednesday morning.
