Lok Leipzig's squad change: sports director announces major transfers!
After an exciting season with championship and cup wins, but without the hoped-for promotion, big changes are coming at FC Lok Leipzig. The farewell to ten players, including Nikola Aracic (24), who is moving to SC Wiedenbrück, does not leave a good impression. This marks the end of an era and those responsible must act quickly to fill the gaps in the squad. According to Bild, only left-back David Grözinger (26) from BFC has been brought into the team.
The challenge for sports director Toni Wachsmuth is enormous. After the late decision about league membership, which only came after two relegation games against TSV Havelse, squad planning is extremely complicated. “The late decision made our planning more difficult because we had to plan in two ways,” explains Wachsmuth. This led to some players now making different decisions.
What awaits the new squad?
Despite the many departures - ranking list includes: Zak Paulo Piplica (23), Adrian Kireski (24), Nico Rieger (21), Max-Peter Klump (26), Niclas Müller (23), Ryan Adigo (24), Theo Ogbidi (24) and Abou Ballo (27) - Wachsmuth shows optimism. He is convinced that good players want to come to Lok and a strong squad will be put together. In addition, Noah Eichinger's loan to Jahn Regensburg is expiring, which further confuses the squad planning.
The U23 regulations must be taken into account - currently only Linus Zimmer and Luc Elsner meet the criteria. “We have to sign four or five young players to meet the rule,” said Wachsmuth. This brings additional urgency to the transfers, especially with a view to the start of training.
Preparation and goals
The squad will not be complete when training begins on Monday. Wachsmuth's goal is to get the majority of the team together in the third week of training preparation. “We are starting at a different level than last year,” he emphasizes, pointing out that reinforcements are still being sought, particularly for central midfield and central defender positions.
The challenges are great, but those responsible are determined to set the course for a successful season. Even if the starting position is difficult, the upheaval at FC Lok Leipzig could certainly be fruitful - if the right decisions are made.
