Christian pop inspires: Songs in Concert” on August 30th in Chemnitz!

An exciting event is just around the corner in the cultural capital of Chemnitz: On Saturday, August 30, 2025, the “Songs in Concert” (SiC) concert will take place in the St. Joseph Church. From 2 p.m. until the evening, visitors can look forward to a musical treat that focuses on Christian pop culture. More than five bands from the Dresden-Meißen diocese will give their best and make the church ring. According to [bistum-dresden-meissen.de], the musical performances will have the motto “Listen to music and join in”.

The variety offered in this concert is particularly exciting: the appearance of the “Elbharmonie” from Dresden-Pieschen and the “St. Barbara Band” from Riesa promises just as much enthusiasm as the talented newcomers from Dresden and Leipzig. Favorite pieces from the popular “Songs” magazines are interpreted. These magazines, which have been published annually for over 30 years and began in the 1970s, are extremely popular and the arrangements include both new and older songs.

A day full of music and community

The event not only offers concerts, but also workshops and an open stage in the evening for everyone who would like to make music themselves. A musical evening impulse at 6 p.m. will inspire the participants, followed by a fair evening meal. The crowning finale is the last band, which takes the stage at around 8 p.m. Afterwards everyone is cordially invited to an open stage and the after show party until midnight. This event comes about through the initiative of the Young Music Association and the Kulturkirche Chemnitz, and what is particularly pleasing for all music lovers: Admission is free!

With the help of committed contributors, it is possible to continue this tradition. Last year's events took place in cities such as Dresden, Leipzig and Crimmitschau. This year Chemnitz will focus on the Christian music scene. Another highlight is the publication of a new song booklet in 2024 by Dehm-Verlag, after it had been published by St. Benno-Verlag for a long time.
