Meißen and Radebeul donate a record -breaking towards the gray star!

Meißen, Deutschland - The Christoffel blind mission (CBM) has committed itself to combating the gray star worldwide and receives support from Saxony. How Sächsische.de reports, the city of Meißen, with a total of 42,983 euros in donations for the past year, is one of the five cities with the highest per capita donation for the CBM in Saxony. This corresponds to an average amount of 1.48 euros per inhabitant. Radebeul is also generous and occupies 4th place in this ranking with 1.60 euros. Pirna is at the front with an average donation of 3.05 euros.

These means are of crucial importance to prevent blindness from gray stars, which affects more than 17 million people worldwide. An operation that removes the lens clouding costs just 30 euros and can be carried out in about 15 minutes. However, this sum is unaffordable for many people in countries such as Africa, Asia or Latin America, which is why the donations are all the more important.

Need for help

The fate of Jesca, a five -year -old girl from Tanzania, shows the urgency of this support. Jesca used to be a happy child who was full of energy. But now she often sits quietly in her hut and has difficulties with her eyesight. The turning point of her life came when she fell into a thorn bush while playing and did not see him in time. Her single mother has recognized that something is wrong with her daughter's eyes, and the chances of treatment are low because she cannot pay the costs. Jesca dreams of being able to see again to run, jump and go to school. But without the necessary help, this dream could remain unfulfilled.

The initiative of the CBM is strengthened by the generous donations from cities such as Meißen and Radebeul, which can also have an international effect. The organization uses the funds to help people in poorer and medically under -the -suffering regions and to offer them a new perspective. cbm.at and cbm.de illustrate how important resources in the form of donations can make up the difference between light and darkness.

It remains to be hoped that people in Meißen and Radebeul will continue to prove a good hand while donating and, with their help, enable many others to live in light and joie de vivre.
