Ecumenical Children's Home Radebeul is celebrating 20 years full of adventure!
There is a festive celebration in Radebeul! The Ecumenical Children's Home Am Gottesacker looks back on 20 successful years and preparations for a big celebration on August 15, 2025 are in full swing. The children's house was founded two decades ago and has since developed into a popular meeting place for children and families. The look goes back to the early years of the daycare, where many children, like the sons of the Gries family, were able to experience unforgettable moments.
Annett Gries, who regularly picked up her three sons from daycare, remembers the happy hours of play in the garden, which lies between the railway line and the facility. “The boys often played football there,” she says with a smile in her voice. The youngest son Konrad in particular raves about the Lego corner and the colorful carnival celebrations that characterized the children's house.
Memories and nature experiences
The Ecumenical Children's House is not only a place to play, but also a place where children learn a lot about nature and community. The ABC riflemen's three-day trip to Saxon Switzerland was a highlight for many: they took the train into the beautiful landscape, where the evenings were spent around the campfire listening to music. The children also experienced first-hand contact with nature during hikes in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
Another fascinating aspect of the children's home is that children who can use the toilet without assistance spend May in the Junge Heide forest. This excursion gives the little ones the opportunity to discover and explore the natural environment.
Commitment and support from the support association
A very important part of the children's home is the support association, which was founded on October 16, 2012 as an initiative by members of the Catholic Christ the King community and the Protestant Peace Church community. With currently 74 members, the association supports the daycare center's educational work and seeks additional funding for special projects. Members are always warmly welcome.
The income from the Christmas market in December 2022, which amounted to 816.70 euros, goes directly to supporting the daycare center. One more reason to recognize the dedicated work of the support association!
In a modern society, it is important that educational institutions such as the Ecumenical Children's Home offer start-up help and support children in their development. Loud Education Foundation New clubs can also apply for exemption notices from the tax office, which is a challenge for many organizations.
The tenth anniversary of the support association will be celebrated on September 15, 2023. Anyone interested is invited to look back together with the daycare center and the support association and to forge new goals for the future.
The Ecumenical Children's Home remains an important institution in Radebeul, which is characterized by the commitment of families and sponsors. It is everyone's responsibility to provide children with a safe and friendly environment in which they can develop individually.
