Construction site B 169: detours and patience required until October!
The federal highway B 169 in Dittersbach is currently a whole corner less self-sufficient. As the Free press reports, the road is not only currently under construction on a long section of around 7.4 kilometers between Frankenberg and Hainichen, but has also recently received a new surface. But not everything goes smoothly: free travel will not be possible again until October. At the moment, countless construction vehicles such as trucks, transporters and rollers are causing a lot of traffic on the B 169, which is ultimately one of the most important traffic arteries in central Saxony.
The renovation work officially began on May 5, 2025, and it is extremely important for the region. The measures include not only the renewal of the asphalt surface and binder course, but also the renovation of sidewalks and curbs. An important innovation is the barrier-free expansion of the “Drei Rosen” bus stops in Dittersbach and the construction of a left-turn lane into “Zum Bahnhof” street. These steps are intended to make life easier for future road users, as lawmakers are placing ever higher demands on accessibility.
Details about the construction site
The construction site is being carried out in six sections, which means that full-scale closures occur again and again. Here is an overview of the sections:
- Abschnitt 1: Dittersbach/Zum Bahnhof bis Gersdorf/Ibersdorfer Straße (Anfang Mai bis Ende Juni).
- Abschnitt 2: Gersdorf/Ibersdorfer Straße bis Gersdorf/Rößnerweg (erste Hälfte der Sommerferien).
- Abschnitt 3: Gersdorf/Rößnerweg bis Kreuzung B 169/S 201 (zweite Hälfte der Sommerferien).
- Abschnitt 4.1: Kreuzung B 169/S 201 bis Zufahrt Hagebaumarkt (Mitte August bis Anfang September).
- Abschnitt 4.2: Zufahrt Hagebaumarkt bis südlich Kreuzung B 169/S 201 (Anfang bis Mitte September).
- Abschnitt 5: Dittersbach/Äußere Hainichener Straße, Hausnr. 3 bis Dittersbach/Sachsenburger Weg (Mitte September bis Mitte Oktober).
- Abschnitt 6: Dittersbach/Sachsenburger Weg bis Dittersbach/Zum Bahnhof (Mitte Oktober bis Ende Oktober).
Anyone who wants to drive through the area in the coming months will have to be prepared for large-scale diversions via the S 201 and S 202. By the way, the diversion route on the S 201 was recently repaired to improve traffic flow. The total investment for this important infrastructure project amounts to around two million euros, with around 1.88 million euros coming from the budget of the Federal Republic of Germany and 120,000 euros from the city of Frankenberg. Residents, businesses and road users are asked for their understanding and, above all, to drive carefully in the diversion areas.
A look at the entire infrastructure
This construction project is part of an overarching plan. As is well known, Germany is investing massively in transport infrastructure. How RND revealed, additional spending totaling 166 billion euros is planned for the years up to 2029. 52 billion euros should flow for federal roads alone. Part of this investment aims to repair dilapidated roads and bridges and improve mobility for everyone. A step that many political decision-makers see as urgently needed, as the infrastructure is often described as outdated and no longer satisfactory.
Overall, the renovation of the B 169 in Dittersbach is not just a one-off measure, but a necessary contribution to better accessibility and traffic safety in the region. This not only improves the direct connection, but also sets an example for investments in infrastructure, which are crucial for both the economy and the daily mobility of citizens.
