Beyoncé wins first Emmy for impressive halftime show costumes!
Beyoncé is once again causing a stir and has reached another milestone in her impressive career with her first Emmy on August 12, 2025. As the Free press reports, the singer was recognized for the outstanding costumes in her halftime show during the NFL game in Houston. The show took place on December 25, 2024 and was broadcast on Netflix under the title “Beyoncé Bowl”. Beyoncé shared the Emmy alongside her talented costume design team, which included Shiona Turini.
The award was presented by the Television Academy in the category “Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Productions”. This is a special highlight because Beyoncé had previously been nominated for an Emmy ten times, but had never won. Now she would have the chance to get closer to the famous EGOT status, which includes winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony. She can currently look back on 35 Grammys, but has not yet won a Tony and has only been nominated for an Oscar once.
The magic of costumes
The halftime show costumes had more than just aesthetic value; they also paid homage to African American culture and cowboys. Shiona Turini, who masterminded the costumes, described it as a “reclaiming of space” with a spiritual meaning, with the color white playing a special role in different cultures. The show was watched by over 27 million viewers on Christmas Day and was a complete success.
In addition to her Emmy nomination in the costume category, Beyoncé was also nominated for Best Director and Best Variety Special (Live). The competition for Best Variety Special will be particularly exciting, where she will have to compete against her husband Jay-Z, who is nominated for his own show with Kendrick Lamar.
Beyoncé on the road to success
The artist is currently very popular even after the end of her successful “Cowboy Carter” tour, which was the highest-earning country tour of all time. This tour grossed her an impressive $407.6 million and set notable records, including over $39.7 million during a three-day run of performances at the Stade de France in Paris.
Beyoncé's future looks bright. The remaining Emmys in the major categories will be announced on September 14, 2025 at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. Fans can already look forward to their first Emmy and are optimistic about the future - especially with regard to their two further nominations.
The Emmy Awards will be presented on September 6th and 7th at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. It remains to be seen whether Beyoncé will be able to add another Emmy to her collection soon. The Petra and Yahoo warmly congratulate her on this success and are excited about her next steps in the show business world.
