Today, August 15, 2025, a few incidents occurred in Central Saxony that are worth a closer look. The police in Döbeln and the surrounding area report on a number of operations that bring both reassuring and worrying reports.
A particularly alarming incident occurred on Badische Straße in Döbeln, where unknown perpetrators set a paper bin on fire. The fire quickly spread to another barrel and a hedge. Fortunately, residents were able to put out the fire and no injuries were reported. The material damage caused is estimated at around 500 euros. The police have started an investigation into property damage and are asking for information from the public in order to find the perpetrators.
Burglaries cause a lot of damage
In Freiberg, safety concerns were raised again after unknown people broke into a cellar on Wasserturmstrasse. Computer technology and food worth around 4,000 euros were stolen, and the material damage also amounted to around 120 euros. This represents further evidence of the increasing number of burglaries in the region.
A similar incident occurred in a Freiburg fast food restaurant, where the perpetrators stole cash and the property damage amounted to several thousand euros. In light of these incidents, it is advisable to review your own security precautions.
Traffic injuries and accidents
There were also serious accidents in traffic. A head-on collision between a VW van and a Renault on the S200 resulted in serious injuries to the 61-year-old VW driver and the 39-year-old passenger of the Renault. The 54-year-old driver of the Renault sustained minor injuries, while the S200 had to be closed for several hours. The material damage amounts to around 30,000 euros.
Another accident occurred in Großhartmannsdorf, where a 69-year-old Dacia driver lost control of her vehicle. She crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a VW van. In this case too, there were serious injuries and the property damage was estimated at 53,000 euros. The B101 was completely closed for four hours due to the accident.
In another incident in Halsbrücke, a 28-year-old motorcyclist fell and suffered serious injuries. The material damage still has to be determined here. These reports once again underline the need to exercise caution on the roads.
Thefts are increasing
In addition, a Pedelec tandem worth around 7,000 euros is on the list of stolen goods in Döbeln. Here too, only the front wheel was left at the scene. The police are also calling for help to solve these thefts.
