New first alderman in Central Saxony: Trumpp takes responsibility!
A lot is happening in the Central Saxony district! On July 1, 2025, Dr. Christoph Trumpp took up his new position as the first alderman after being elected by the district council on May 28th. This marks a restructuring at the administrative level, as the structure of the district office has been redesigned and now includes three business areas. Trumpp will also continue to take on his role as treasurer and head the new “Administration and Finance” business group, which includes treasury, real estate management, school administration and the immigration office. The previous first deputy, Dr. Lothar Beier has now retired and there is a lot of excitement in the air about how the new constellation will develop and what the changes will bring with it for the citizens.
Dr. Trumpp, who has been working in the district office since 2021 and previously headed the “Finance and Controlling” department, has set himself ambitious goals. One of his main tasks will be developing an overall strategy for the district in order to set clear priorities for investments. And who couldn't need that? At a time when smart decisions are important, the new councilor is highly motivated.
New second deputy and business areas
But that's not all! The second deputy, Jörg Höllmüller, retains responsibility for the “Order, Health and Social Affairs” business group. This area remains almost unchanged, but the “Education” department will now be under Trumpp’s responsibility. Exciting prospects are emerging!
The renamed “Construction, Transport and Environment” division, which Pia Weißenberg will temporarily manage, brings a breath of fresh air into the administration. She was previously responsible for the “Integrated Rural Development and Geoinformation” department. In her new department, she will not only oversee construction projects, but also take care of economic development and broadband expansion. Great prospects for Central Saxony!
Steps into the future
The new structure was decided by the district council in March, based on recommendations from the Saxon Court of Auditors. After intensive debate, the majority of members of the district council voted in favor, which shows that people in Central Saxony are pulling together. We are currently working on adapting and finalizing various administrative processes, and it will be exciting to see how the new structure will be received in practice.
The Central Saxony district includes a variety of communities, including both larger cities and charming villages. A comprehensive list of these places can be found on the website isgv.de. There are many perspectives and opportunities for developments that accompany restructuring.
The coming months will show how the new structure of the district office under the leadership of Dr. Trumpp and his team will shape the future of Central Saxony. A new chapter that affects us all. Let's stay excited!
