New coach, a breath of fresh air: Flöha starts the season!

The footballers of TSV Flöha are about to start the new season of the Central Saxony League. Preparations have been intensive over the last few weeks and there are some exciting changes to the team that will bring a breath of fresh air into the squad. At the forefront is the new coach, Michael Siegel, who succeeds interim coach Tom Göckeritz. After a mixed last year, in which TSV only finished 7th with 40 points, they would like to achieve more continuity and consistency in the coming season after there were some quarrels in the previous season, like Freie Press reported.

TSV Flöha 1848 e.V. is not only known for its active football department, which has over 200 athletes, but also as one of the largest sports clubs in the Central Saxony district with more than 550 members and a total of six departments. The association is also socially committed and recently supported the Chemnitz Parents' Association of Children with Cancer e.V. with a donation of 1,020 euros, which was collected through a raffle and auction, according to TSV Flöha.

News from the football department

The team, which survived last season well, is now led with great enthusiasm by Christian Schulze. He brings a lot of experience from various clubs and used to play for TSV Flöha himself. The fans can also look forward to the two new players, the Ney brothers: Christopher (32) and Dominik (29) will be in the first team squad in the future.

The 22/23 season is now officially over and the men's teams have retained their league. However, the fans also have to say goodbye to some players and trainers, including Pascal Lee Dickmann, Dustin Tauth, Tommy Hunger, Max Horn, Mike Hegewald and Rene Grundig, who will act as coach of the “second team”. Newly elected members of the department management are David Schauer, Mirko Schwoy, Steffi Limbecker, Sören Weise, Jens Gahut and Nico Israel. The club is on the right track, it looks like.

Positive development in popular sports

The positive developments of TSV Flöha are also reflected in the general development of popular sports in Central Saxony. Benjamin Kahlert, managing director of the Central Saxony District Sports Association, reports that the number of members last year was over 48,500 and thus more than compensated for the decline during the corona pandemic. This positive trend continues. Kahlert is optimistic and expects the number of members to develop well this year too. The State Sports Association of Saxony will announce more details in the coming weeks, as Sächsische explains.

The region has invested a lot in recent months to strengthen the club landscape and rekindle enthusiasm for the sport. The U16 state teams from Bavaria, Bremen, Württemberg and Saxony will soon take part in a four-country tournament in Flöha, Mittweida and Frankenberg, which should further fuel activity and interest in sport in the area.

In summary, it can be said that TSV Flöha is on the right track both sportily and socially. The new challenges and opportunities will certainly provide a breath of fresh air and keep the joy of football at the forefront.
