Roßwein celebrates a festival of traditions: highlights and hot days!
Last weekend Roßwein was transformed into a veritable sea of celebrations as the town celebrated its 45th school and local festival. This popular event took place as part of the city's 805-year history and attracted numerous visitors. The weather was ideal for festivities with blue skies and temperatures above 30 degrees. A varied program stretched over three days and had something to offer for young and old. So reported Sächsische.de.
Highlights of the festival included, among other things, the performances by the Döbelner Small Town Big Band, the musical performances by the daycare children and the band SK5, which had a blast on the market square on Saturday evening. Hundreds danced happily to the beats of SK5. The classic car fans also got their money's worth: On Saturday morning they reported on their treasures, including Rico Schulz with his almost 50-year-old Mercedes. The exhibition of the aquarium and terrarium association “Osiris”, which took place on both days of the festival, created a nostalgic atmosphere. Beate Nollau also visited her old school and looked back on the good old days.
A celebration for everyone
The city was lovingly decorated for these celebrations. Street mayors and numerous helpers had prepared everything and created a great ambience with coniferous trees, garlands and vines. During the festival, a special train connection was set up between Döbeln, Nossen and Roßwein, which reached the city again after a break of ten years. Mayor Hubert Paßehr was enthusiastic about the good atmosphere and the high number of visitors.
Sunday was particularly splendid because the big parade took place. Daycare groups, clubs and local companies presented themselves. Despite the heat, many visitors sought shade, and the volunteer fire department provided a welcome way to cool off with water pools and water pistols. The musical contributions of the Ascension Band Döbeln and the Carnival Club Haßlau will certainly remain unforgettable. Given the high temperatures, a slightly shorter route was chosen for the parade to save visitors from overexertion.
A traditional folk festival
In the spirit of traditional festivities, the school and home festival was organized by citizens for citizens and was a real folk festival. The school festival website emphasizes that Roßwein was lovingly decorated during the festival week and everyone was warmly invited to get to know the city in the heart of Saxony. The colorful program couldn't have been more varied, and the big parade was the crowning finale.
With this festival, Roßwein not only brought back memories of the good old days, but also created new traditions. In a region where united festivals such as the popular Thalheimer Stadtfest or the Bingefest are currently celebrated, Roßwein impressively shows how vibrant culture and community spirit come together. With a colorful mix of music, entertainment and regional flair, the 45th school and local festival definitely managed to leave a lasting impression in the hearts of every visitor.
