Sylvia Reiss goes: Kreiebstein's dam is planning exciting future!

On July 1, 2025, it is time to say goodbye for Sylvia Reiss, who will go into early retirement after 35 years at the Kreiebstein Zwertverband Talsperre Kriebstein. Her activity began in the administration, where she quickly made a name for herself. In 2021 she took over the management of Thomas Caro, who remains in the team and supervised the sea stage and construction. In her years at the top, Reiss took care of numerous areas, including contract management and the organization of events. One of their greatest achievements was the successful new harbor building and the conversion of the lake stage, which should be completed by 2024.

The Kreiebstein dam, an impressive building built between 1927 and 1930, attracts numerous visitors every year. With a length of 9 km, it not only offers a breathtaking sight, but also a wide range of leisure opportunities. Whether with the rudder and paddle boat rental or when researching the natural mixed forests and floodplains, everyone will find their suitable adventure here. The seaside stage, the only one in Saxony, ensures cultural highlights, while the nearby Ritterburg Kriebstein attracts numerous people interested in history. According to the Kriebstein Dersperre, the reservoir is a national magnet for vacationers and day tourists.

new plans and challenges

tearing is optimistic about the coming years, despite some challenges. The blocking of the Burgberg has negatively affected the number of visitors. She hopes that the situation will improve this year. "We rely on the promotion of day tourism," she explains. It is particularly important to her to expand the offer for families. A climbing forest was available until 2023, but will probably not return. Instead, you should think about alternatives such as a mini golf course or a summer toboggan run.

The situation of the campsite at the dam, which is considered an insider tip, also requires an upgrading. "There is something," says Reiß, "but the unclear property conditions make investments difficult." Investments are essential to keep the space and the entire offers attractive.

a team, an inheritance

with André Singer, the former chief office manager from Rossau, an experienced successor takes over the business of Reiss. The two have a month for familiarization to ensure a smooth transition. While Reiss is taking a positive balance of her collaboration with the team and the association members, she is looking forward to her early retirement. The future? She plans relaxing days in the garden, travel and looking after her grandchild. This will end an era at the Kreiebstein Talsperre Zweckverband Talsperre, but also open new opportunities for the region.
