Waldheim loses its pioneer: Dieter Hentschel steps back!

On July 11, 2025, Dieter Hentschel said goodbye to the political stage of Waldheim for many years. The 77-year-old applied for his resignation, which the city councils unanimously accepted. Mayor Steffen Ernst von the FDP paid tribute to Hentschel's decades of commitment and emphasized how important his decisions were for the city. Born in Waldheim, he has been active in the city council since August 13, 2009 and took part in 167 sessions during this time.

In his last words, Hentschel emphasized that with all his decisions, the expectations of voters always came first. For him, social issues and the economic and cultural development were central aspects of his political work. As early as the 1970s, he was active as a cultural house manager of the "Schelle", an impression that is still reflected in his work. He was also a co -founder of the Spindelfaschings Club Hartha/Waldheim (SFC).

commitment to Waldheim

After the turn, Hentschel was also involved in the home club and played an important role in the conversion of the historic Napoleonhaus. His heart beat not only for culture, but also for the community. So he was active in the helper circle, which took care of the residents of the "colorful houses" and Ukrainian refugees. His relation to nature is shown in his active membership in the garden club "Im Sauergras", where he describes his garden as a retreat.

Mayor Ernst emphasized Hübs's farewell to urban development. The traffic calming, the facade renovation of the town hall and the integration of new districts would not be conceivable without its commitment. Hentschel was also a supporter of the local festival on the occasion of the 825th anniversary of Waldheim and was actively involved in the reduction in parental contributions.

a new section

Although Hentschel is now leaving the city council, he plans to take part in parliamentary group and city council meetings as a guest. So he remains connected to the political landscape of Waldheim. Eyk Fechner will move into the city council for Hentschel and continue the important work.

The Hentschel case reflects the great commitment of many citizens who are committed to the community in their cities. At a time when cities and Waldheim face many challenges, it is crucial to have people like Hentschel who consider both social and cultural aspects as the basis for a city worth living. The fact that cities are constantly changing is part of its nature, as well as the social organisms that form, and historically grown structures that are always in change [bpb.de reports that ...

We wish Dieter Hentschel all the best for his upcoming projects and hope that he will continue to be an active member of our community!
