Trains on Rossweiner Fest: Train trip between Döbeln, Nossen and Roßwein!
Roßwein, Deutschland - The anticipation for the 45th school and local festival in Roßwein is growing! On the occasion of this special occasion, trains between Döbeln, Roßwein and Nossen will run from Friday to Sunday, such as Saechsische.de . This is a joyful occasion, because the Sachsen GmbH (NES) network (NES) and the Nossen-Riesaer Eisenbahn-Compagnie GmbH (NRE) are again offering multi-day passenger trips since 2015. But that's not all - this initiative also aims to promote the journey by train and to point out the planned reactivation of passenger transport from Döbeln to Meißen.
Special highlight of the trips are a historic railway team of the 772 series, known as "piglet taxi", and a modern railcar of the 650 series. The trips are carried out by the NES and are therefore not only an experience for railway fans, but also a step towards an improved traffic connection in the region.
school festival and rail traffic
From June 20 to June 22, 2025, the school festival weekend takes place on the disused railway line between Döbeln, Roßwein and Nossen. According to Schulfest-rosswein.de , a clock traffic is also used, which also serves the train stations in Gleisberg and Niederstriegis. This is considered the first milestone to reactivate the route in passenger transport.
Speaking of reactivations: In the past two years, only 21 kilometers of dismissal railway lines have been put into operation in Germany, reports Tagesschau.de . There are over 320 disused routes with more than 5,400 kilometers that are waiting for resetting. With a strong commitment to the reactivation of disabled railway lines in Saxony, the NES is an active partner in developing the routes from Döbeln to Roßwein and Nossen to Meißen and Lommatzsch to Riesa.
driving prices and carpools
Fahr prices are moderate for adults and children from the age of six - only five euros for a day ticket that is available from the train staff. In addition, visitors can ride on Saturday between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and on Sunday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the driver's cab of a modern diesel locomotive, which should undoubtedly be an exciting experience for the small and large railway fans.
The timetables are available on the NES website as usual. It will be exciting to see how the traffic connections change through these initiatives and whether we can finally experience continuous passenger traffic from Döbeln to Meißen.
