B169 closure: Commuters will have to take detours from September 22nd

From September 22nd, the B169 between Hof and Riesa will be a real challenge for commuters. The complete closure of the road, which extends over around 600 meters in the S Tauchitz municipality, is necessary in order to renew the roadway. This extensive construction work begins in the Plotitz district and extends beyond the entrance to Seerhausen, as is the case LVZ reported.

The construction work is scheduled to last approximately two weeks and is scheduled to be completed by the beginning of October. A diversion will be set up for road users coming from the direction of Döbeln via Salbitz (S30) to Lonnewitz, followed by the B6 to Seerhausen. In the opposite direction, the diversion follows the same path. While car drivers can use alternative, less time-consuming detour options, things will certainly be a bit tight in S Tauchitz and Hahnefeld.

Advanced measures and costs

Access to Riesa could be particularly difficult, as Rostocker Straße is closed until October 2nd and Oschatzer Straße cannot be used to access Riesa until October 18th. The construction work on the B169 will cost around 140,000 euros, which will be financed from the budget of the Federal Republic of Germany. Additional costs of an estimated 200,000 euros are expected for the preparatory work on relocating the B169 in the third construction phase, which starts on September 25th LASUV.

As part of this preparatory work, the route from Riesa to the southwest of Salbitz will be rebuilt. Nature conservation compensation and replacement measures are also planned. These include, among other things, two forests in the southern area of the Hahnefeld reservoir and northeast of Hahnefeld, so that waterlogging of the surrounding fields is avoided.

Looking into the future

From October, additional drilling and exploration work will be carried out in the subsoil of the new route, which is scheduled to last until mid-2024. The results of these drillings are crucial for the planning of the structures and the tendering of the construction work. Species protection measures are expected to follow from the end of October, which are intended to create habitats for various bird and bat species. The majority of the road-independent compensation and replacement measures will be put out to tender this year and are scheduled to be implemented in 2024.

The planned archaeological excavations, which are scheduled to begin in spring 2024, are a direct result of the conditions created by the State Office of Archeology. The first main construction works for bridge and road construction are expected after these excavations have been completed. A previous building law procedure for the relocation of the B169 between Riesa and Salbitz was concluded in 2022 with a planning approval decision and a lawsuit before the Federal Administrative Court was dismissed in July 2023 - the building law is now final.

Residents and commuters now have to be prepared for uncomfortable detours, while at the same time the road infrastructure is being improved for the future. With this in mind: It remains exciting on the streets!
