Delitzsch is blossoming: Garden café Schönes Grün” tempts with delicacies!

In Delitzsch it's not just blooming in the garden, but also in people's hearts! Simone Ewald has created a small oasis with her “Schönes Grün” garden, which extends over 3,000 square meters. On July 20th, the garden café will open its doors for the second time this year, after the first event was a complete success with around 50 visitors. Ewald wants to close a café gap in the city with her offer and has put together a diverse program aimed at enjoyment and togetherness. As LVZ reports, she bakes her own cakes with a lot of love using fresh ingredients from her garden.

Ewald describes the atmosphere of her garden as “wildly romantic,” where she invites visitors to unwind and talk to each other. In order to reduce waste and at the same time create a uniform charm, she uses 60 different tableware sets. A full cover of cake and coffee is available for just 6.50 euros. The next date will be on August 10th, followed by a final one in September.

Experience community

But the garden café is only part of a larger trend: in Delitzsch and elsewhere, community gardens are becoming increasingly important. They are not only places where fresh fruits and vegetables are harvested, but also meeting places for the neighborhood. The Knowledge emphasizes that these gardens contribute to social interaction and to improving the quality of life. More and more people are committed to transforming fallow areas into blooming gardens.

A suitable example is the “Open Garden Day”, which will take place in the community garden at the water tower. Visitors can look forward to a varied program ranging from garden tours to creative watercolor painting workshops to delicious coffee and cake. Cosmopolitan North Saxony offers a platform for creative minds and families to enjoy nature together.

A look into the future

Simone Ewald, who not only enthusiastically looks after her garden but is also the first chairwoman of the Delitzscher animal shelter, is already thinking about the coming years. She plans to hold more café events next year as long as the necessary permits and equipment are available. The renaissance of community gardens and the commitment of local initiatives clearly show that a sense of belonging is becoming increasingly important in cities. Delitzsch is no exception - not only greenery flourishes here, but also social cohesion.
