On Monday, June 16, 2025, FC Eilenburg announced the signing of Kevin Rodewald as their new coach. The regional league team from Northern Saxony has found a new sporting management following the departure of Sascha Prufer, who is moving to Halleschen FC as an assistant coach. Rodewald, who coached Hansa Rostock's U23s until the beginning of 2024, should now lead the club to stay in the Regionalliga Nordost. The experienced coach signs a contract until June 30, 2027 and brings with him broad experience that he was able to gain in junior and men's work.

Rodewald's coaching career began in 2014 at FC Pommern Stralsund, but he found his greatest success as coach of Hansa Rostock's U23s, when he promoted the team from the Oberliga to the Regionalliga. After a not entirely successful time in the fourth division, which ended with his leave of absence, his successor Uwe Speidel was unable to prevent relegation. Sports director Stephan Hofmann emphasizes that Rodewald was convincing from both a professional and a human perspective. Those responsible at the club are sure that he has a good knack for developing young talent and he really appreciates the family atmosphere in the club.

Perspectives for the future

“We have defined a clear requirement profile – long experience in coaching and a modern playing philosophy,” explains Hofmann. Rodewald fits exactly into this pattern. His predecessor, Examiner, leaves behind a team that managed to stay in the Regionalliga Nordost, but the course for positive development must now be set. Eilenburg's sports director was confident that the collaboration with Rodewald would be fruitful, especially with the focus on promoting young talent.

Despite limited financial resources, the club does not plan any unrealistic expenses. Rodewald will be asked to build a powerful and competitive team from the existing talent. Kevin Rodewald seems to be the right choice both athletically and personally. His passion for endurance sports and his participation in the Triathlon Ironman European Championships in Wiesbaden are also a sign of his determination and discipline.

“We want to form a team here in Eilenburg that represents the club and the region,” says Rodewald, emphasizing the ambitions. The exciting times in the Regionalliga Nordost are upon us, and the Eilenburgers will be excited to see what progress their new coach will make with the team.
