What is happening in Lommatzsch care? This historic region, known for its first-class soil quality, still plays a central role in German agriculture today. The soil count in Salbitz is high at 86 and enables agricultural businesses to produce stable and rich harvests. LVZ reports that the LfULG's Nossen experimental station tests wheat varieties on a six-hectare field. The experts place particular emphasis on suitability for cultivation, protein content and fertilization efficiency.

Wheat cultivation is very important in the region, as many farmers incorporate it into their crop rotation every three years. At a recent field day in Salbitz, 27 varieties of winter wheat were tested for their suitability. Bodo Hanns, the head of the experimental station, explains that the selection of the wheat variety always represents a compromise between opportunities and risks.

One of the key factors for wheat cultivation in the Lommatzscher care are the intensive studies carried out by the experts. They are dedicated to protection against fungal infections and present their results, such as the susceptibility of winter wheat, especially after corn cultivation. This year, three newly approved wheat varieties were even tested, offering exciting prospects for farmers. Landscapes in Germany emphasizes that the region is historically known as the granary of Saxony and also benefits economically from cultivation and sales thanks to good connections with cities such as Leipzig and Dresden.

The current data shows that farmers in Lommatzscher Pflege are doing well economically and could even afford expensive clothing. The region's well-developed railway network makes it easier to market harvested products, a real plus for farmers. But despite such advantages, the challenges cannot be underestimated.

In 1900, the average grain yield was 25-30 dt/ha, which was above the German average of 18.5 dt/ha. With industrialization and also after the wars, new structures emerged. The Federal Agency for Civic Education explains that structural change has been crucial to the development of agriculture, with many farmers having to expand their operations and organize themselves into cooperatives in recent decades.

The latest study also addresses the phenomenon of ecotoxins, which can pose a risk to yields. As an example of the exchange of knowledge and commitment in agriculture, the farmer Johanna Fuchs can be mentioned, who uses the findings from the tests directly for her farming. Hannes Hönemann, a participant from Raitzen, emphasized the value of exchanging ideas with experts and colleagues.
