35 years of PSV Pirna: Sports festival for the whole family on July 26th!

On July 26, 2025, the members of the Pirna 1990 Police Sports Club (PSV) will celebrate a very special anniversary: 35 years of club history. Again Weekly Courier reports, visitors can expect a varied family and fun sports festival in the motorsport arena on the Feistenberg, Dippoldiswalder Str. 60 in Pirna. The event starts at 9 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m., with the first sporting competitions starting at 9:30 a.m.

The patronage and support comes from the district sports association, which gives the event additional momentum and brings the local community together. Families, friends and all members are particularly welcome until 4 p.m. to spend the day together and enjoy what the PSV has to offer.

A colorful program for everyone

The anniversary event is all about fun. Participants can collect points at seven different stations, and the winners in the various age groups will be honored from 4:30 p.m. Club boss Tilo Marx, one of the founders of PSV after reunification, emphasizes the focus on popular sport. No competitive sport is required, so everyone can feel addressed.

From 10:30 a.m. until the evening, the club members show the diversity of the PSV: demonstrations in areas such as car model making, bowling, dog sports, martial arts, motor sports and sport shooting are offered. A new group for equestrian sports will also be added, which will expand the club's offerings. Your physical well-being is also taken care of: from delicious grilled dishes to cool drinks from taps and bottles, there is something for every taste.

The tradition of police sports

The concept of a separate sports club for police officers is remarkable in that it only gained importance in Germany after the First World War. The first major discussion about police sports clubs took place in 1919 at a police conference in Berlin. This laid the foundation for the development of such clubs, which have flourished since the 1920s. The breakthrough came in 1924 with the founding of the Reich Police Committee in Leipzig, which was intended to promote sporting activities in the official area, as on the side of the PSPV Minden can be read.

Over the years, the Pirna 1990 Police Sports Club has developed into an important part of the community. The current activities also include self-assertion courses for boys, girls and women, which directly supports the club's young talent and the promotion of sports friendships, in keeping with the original spirit of the club.

So if you're interested in an exciting event and would like to be part of this special celebration, you should mark July 26th in your calendar. Because the Pirna 1990 Police Sports Club has a lot to offer and fun is guaranteed!
