New additions to SC Freital: Preparation for the season starts with a lot of enthusiasm!

A new phase for SC Freital begins! The football club gathered in the WGF Arena last weekend to begin preparations for the coming season with a public training session. Three of the four new arrivals were there under the curious gaze of fans and interested parties. The future belongs to these new faces - and the first training session spread a feeling of optimism.

The new additions are promising: Paul Horschig (25) from BSG Chemie Leipzig brings a lot of experience from the regional league. Bruno Schiemann (23), once a top performer at Bischofswerda, is supposed to fill the gap left by Felix Hennig, who moved to Budissa Bautzen. Oskar Ohnesorge (18) from Dynamo Dresden's U19 is considered a promising talent. The fourth newcomer, Louis Menz (20) from SC Borea, unfortunately had to sit out due to an extended vacation. “The two boys Horschig and Ohnesorge have good potential,” says head football coach Daniel Wirth, emphasizing Schiemann’s team orientation and physical strength, which will certainly be an asset to the team.

Test games in preparation

In order to prepare the newly assembled squad for an emergency, SC Freital has already scheduled a few test games. On July 4th there will be the first duel against FSV Zwickau (Regional League). After that, FC Carl Zeiss Jena awaits on July 11th, followed by a game against the U19 from Energie Cottbus on July 16th and finally another meeting on July 19th against SG Handwerk Rabenstein from the Sachsenliga. These games offer an excellent opportunity to test the suitability of new talent and promote team chemistry.

The league has also changed in the meantime. New to the southern season are VFC Plauen (relegated from the regional league) as well as the promoted teams VfB Empor Glauchau, SC Heiligenstadt and FC Lok Stendal. Such changes bring a breath of fresh air - excitement is guaranteed!

Commitment to integration and youth football

But SC Freital is not only active on the pitch. The club also focuses on social responsibility and wants to offer a platform for football enthusiasts of all ages. “We are a reflection of the city of Freital and attach great importance to integration,” said a club spokesman. SC Freital was created from the merger of three older clubs and is heavily involved in children's and youth football. This is about bringing people together regardless of origin or culture and giving them a sporting home.

The commitment in the area of **integration through sport** is impressive. Numerous offers, including workshops and projects, are provided to reduce prejudices and strengthen cooperation. The educational work uses the anti-bias approach to promote awareness, with full-time and volunteer staff continuously training in order to be as committed as possible. In this context, SC Freital sees its work as a contribution to social integration and sporting leisure activities in the region.

In summary, it can be said that the coming weeks will be crucial for SC Freital. With new talent in the team and a clear focus on integration and youth development, the club is entering the new season with fresh enthusiasm. Is this what the future of football in Freital looks like? The upcoming test games will show it!
