Construction chaos in Vogtland: RB 4 trains are canceled – replacement buses are running!
Train users of the RB 4 line should prepare for significant restrictions in the period from August 11th to November 16th, 2025. All trains between Greiz and Weischlitz and Adorf will be canceled during this time. This is reported by the State railway. The reason for the cancellations is necessary construction work, which also requires a simultaneous bridge closure in the town of Barthmühle.
A replacement bus service will be set up for affected travelers, providing a connection to the most important stops. The replacement bus stops include:
- Gera Hbf
- Plauen ob Bf
- Weischlitz
- Bad Elster 1
- Bad Brambach
Also affects other lines
The RB 2, which runs between Zwickau and Cheb in the Czech Republic, is also affected. In particular, train VBG 80279 to Bad Brambach is canceled, while train VBG 80229 continues to run. The VBG 80230 from Bad Brambach to Adorf will also be replaced by a bus. Travelers should definitely pay attention to changed timetables and use earlier connections if necessary.
Regarding the traffic situation in summer 2025, it should be said that there will also be restrictions on other German routes. In Hesse, for example, diversions and outages are expected due to extensive renovation work. The Hesse show informed that various lines, including RB46 and S-Bahn routes, are also affected by construction work. Commuters and holidaymakers could be forced to use alternative means of transport during this time.
In a period like this, something is happening. Travelers benefit from early planning to avoid complicated travel routes. The use of replacement buses is becoming more intensive than ever, while at the same time other transport companies, such as ODEG, NEB and S-Bahn Berlin, are also having to make adjustments to their timetables. A look at the VBB page could be helpful here.
The road traffic situation also contributes to the complexity of travelers. In Elsterberg, the B92 will be closed until August 29, 2025, which means it will not be possible to stop at the bus stop at the Gasthof Linde. For travelers this means: good preparation is half the battle!
In view of all these changes, it is advisable to regularly inform yourself about the latest developments and changes in order to arrive at your destination relaxed and start your journey without unexpected surprises.
