FSV Zwickau: After injury concerns comes the big vote of confidence this season!

FSV Zwickau finished last season in fourth place in an exciting race and collected an impressive 60 points. The team stands proud with 18 wins, 6 draws and 10 defeats - although with a balanced goal difference of 47:46, but overall you can say that there is still room for improvement. However, the air was thin, especially at the beginning of the season: only six points from seven games caused the team to stumble, but then the turning point came and the Zwickau team picked up victories.

The arena in which the team plays its home games, the GGZ Arena on Stadionallee, is easily accessible. Whether by public transport or car, fans can get to the stadium without any problems. If you take the tram, it's best to take line 3 to the Eckersbach Mitte stop. This line is also directly connected to Neumarkt, where you can change to get to all parts of Zwickau. The arena also has excellent connections to the motorway, which is a good plus for fans traveling from away. Liga3 News reports that…

Preparation: Trial & Error

During the preparation, the FSV completed a series of test games that were divided into three phases. In the first phase, top-class shooting festivals were announced, with impressive victories such as 11:0 against SG 48 Schönfels and 16:0 against VfB Pößneck. The start couldn't have been better!

But the next phases also brought their challenges. In the second phase there were two tasks against upper league teams, both of which were won, while in the third phase the team had to test its limits against regional league teams. Unfortunately, they lost points against the U23s of 1. FC Nürnberg (1:3), but were able to rehabilitate themselves somewhat with a win against SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz (1:0). Overall, the Zwickau offensive was able to excel again and again - the most successful goalscorers were Zimmermann, Eixler, Pilger and Albert. Blick reports that…

Squad changes and course setting

A lot has happened in the squad: With new additions such as Jasper Kühn and Gabriel Figurski Viera from Hertha Zehlendorf as well as Clemens Boldt and Josua von Baer from Chemnitzer FC, a breath of fresh air has been brought into the team. However, they also had to part ways with some players. Captain Mike Könnecke has ended his career and other players are also looking for new challenges. Benjamin Leneis and Leon Asseth, for example, are still without a club.

Defensively, FSV relies on Lucas Hiemann, who is scheduled to be number 1 in goal, as well as experienced central defenders such as Maximilian Somnitz and Oliver Fobassam. It will be exciting to see how the newly formed defense will meet the challenges of the coming season. After conceding 46 goals last season, it is important to stabilize the defense and, above all, to perform better against teams like Hertha Zehlendorf, who have already put a lot of demands on the Zwickau defense.

A look at the test games shows that FSV Zwickau, despite concerns about injuries, always showed a fighting spirit and did not allow themselves to be defeated so easily. This fighting attitude is needed in order to build on the successes of last season in the coming season and perhaps even climb up a place or two in the table.
