Zwickau is moving: Mobility Days 2025 with fun for everyone!
On June 21, 2025, Zwickau will be the venue for a big celebration of mobility. Under the motto “Experience mobility, have fun, get involved!” invites the city to the main market. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. there are numerous hands-on activities and taster tours on the program that have a lot to offer for young and old. From Segway and e-cart courses to guided tours through the city in a Trabi or on foot – the offering is colorful and varied. The little ones in particular can look forward to bouncy castles, a toy mobile and children's vehicles, while adults can get active themselves with wheelchair basketball with professionals.
A highlight of the day will be the salsa workshop at 2:30 p.m., followed by dance and fitness activities with MOVE Zwickau at 3:00 p.m. The crowning conclusion is the street music festival Fête de la Musique from 5:00 p.m., which flows seamlessly into the mobility festival. Radio Zwickau reports that this festival is not just for entertainment, but also offers an insight into sustainable mobility projects.
A look into the past and the future of mobility
Mobility is changing and this will also become visible at a special event in Zwickau on the same day. The development of mobility over the last 120 years will be discussed in the August Horch Museum from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The agenda here includes, among other things, exciting lectures on the (re)construction of the Horch 14-17 PS from 1904, which take place at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Such events bring history directly to citizens and show how to set the course for a sustainable future. The city of Zwickau emphasizes the importance of these events for understanding technical developments.
Another format that offers the young engineers of tomorrow a platform will take place on June 19, 2025 at the West Saxon University of Zwickau. The Young Engineers Network will be launched here from 5:00 p.m. to network graduates and students. The focus is on presentations about groundbreaking technologies, such as a highly efficient multi-fuel engine.
Sustainable mobility and infrastructure in focus
In order to make the existing mobility infrastructure future-proof, a basis for sustainable mobility is essential. According to an analysis by KPMG, a huge expansion of the infrastructure will be required in the coming years. Around 320% more charging stations are needed to meet the needs of users and achieve the goals of EU regulations. Over 1,000 charging stations have to be set up every day to meet the requirements for renewable energy and electromobility. In addition, the report calls for alternative drive solutions such as green hydrogen and biofuels to be taken into account in addition to the electrification of the vehicle fleet. KPMG emphasizes the importance of a multi-technological strategy for a successful transformation.
The events in Zwickau impressively show that the city is actively addressing these issues. Whether at festivals, in schools or at networking meetings – the commitment to sustainable and innovative mobility is unmistakable. There's something there, people are asked to actively participate and shape the future of mobility together!
