Zwickau, Deutschland - On June 14, 2025, FSV Zwickau celebrates a very special anniversary: the 50th anniversary of the Glorious FDGB Cup victory from 1975. At that time, in the stadium of the World Youth in East Berlin, BSG Sachsenring won the trophy with a gripping final against Dynamo Dresden, which was to turn out to be the last big title in the club's history. In a game that was characterized by a hard defense and clever counterattack, Zwickau finally prevailed in a penalty shootout, led by her captain Jürgen Croy, a real local hero from Zwickau.

Both teams felt themselves in the first half of the game, although Dresden had more possession of the ball, but reached their limits in the Zwickau defense. In the 65th minute, Dynamo then scored the lead by Heidler, who brought the Zwickauer to the forced. But the answer was not long in coming: only eight minutes later Schykowski achieved the equalization for Zwickau. What followed was an exciting duel that went into the extension.

The decisive penalty shootout

In the extension there was no further goal, which made the duel punished into a thrill of eleven meters. Here Jürgen Croy, as a goalkeeper of the BSG Sachsenring, managed to appear decisively. He parried the shots of Weber and Dörner, and ultimately it was Croy himself who converted the decisive penalty and thus secured the cup victory.

This victory was not only an occasion for joy for the fans, but also qualified the BSG Sachsenring for the European Cup winner's European Cup, which put the club on a larger stage.
