Something is happening in Zwickau city center: Peter-Breuer-Straße, previously characterized by gray concrete walls, will soon be transformed into a colorful and inviting “Love Wall”. The fashion designer Sara Linke was inspired by the Italian wall, the “Muretto di Alassio”, and is focusing on an initiative that allows the heart of the city to blossom. The redesign involves brightening up the drab walls with colorful tiles, creating a sign of affection. This reports freipresse.de.
The plan includes the construction of approximately 400 ceramic tiles that can be designed by citizens. This gives everyone the opportunity to capture personal memories and affection for the city on a tile. It costs around 39 euros for smaller tiles (15×15 cm) and 45 euros for larger ones (20×20 cm). Anyone interested can register until the end of June at hello@saralinke.de. The tile design starts in July, and the big unveiling is planned for the end of September with a street party, like tag24.de reported.

With the “Zwickau Love Wall”, the initiators are pursuing the goal of not only visually improving Peter-Breuer-Strasse, but also establishing it as a pub and gourmet mile. Zwickau city manager Anne Kuhl supports this project both financially and in an advisory capacity. The street, which already houses a colorful mix of shops, stores and pubs, is intended to become an inviting meeting place for citizens. The initiators also have ideas for forgotten corners that are considered eyesores.
