Zwickau art calendar 2026: Art helps children in the hospital!
The anticipation in Zwickau is great: The 2026 art calendar, a joint project between the Zwickau Energy Supply (ZEV) and the Zwickau Art Association, is celebrating its 20th edition. Under the title “Sommersalon 2026”, this special edition will be presented with 13 selected works of art by regional artists. The opening exhibition will take place in the cafeteria of the Heinrich-Braun-Klinikum (HBK) and runs until December 12th. Here the organizers want to bring art to a place where it can provide comfort and confidence, as [Blick.de](https://www.blick.de/zwickau/zwickauer-kalender- Feiert-20-auflage-mit-herzensaktion-vor-ort-artikel14027299) reports.
The selection of works of art, which come from numerous submissions from regional artists, shows an exciting variety of styles - from lively and colorful to profound and thoughtful. Wolfgang Schinko from the Kunstverein emphasizes the important role of art as a mirror of society. “We not only want to show art with the exhibition, but also enable interactive participation,” says Schinko. Visitors and clinic staff can vote for their favorite picture by placing a sticky heart. The “winning picture” will be chosen at the end of the exhibition and its value will be donated to the HBK Children’s Center. Dominik Wirth, commercial director of ZEV, describes the project as a real passion project that is also intended to promote the community, as Heinrich-Braun-Klinikum.de explains.
The art calendar and its meaning
The calendar itself contains 12 different sheets and a title page and is available in a limited edition of 150 pieces - at a price of 15 euros. It is available at the Tourist Information Zwickau, the Marx bookstore and the Liebig arts and crafts. The campaign shows how art not only brings aesthetic joy, but also functions as an important element of mental health. This is also supported by international developments, as shown by a publication by the World Health Organization (WHO) on the subject of artistic activities and their contribution to the health of forcibly displaced people. The report highlights that artistic activities strengthen self-confidence and promote social inclusion, which is perfectly in line with the idea of the Zwickau Art Calendar, as Culture Action Europe explains.
The artistic expressions associated with projects such as the Zwickau Art Calendar can have a major impact on social well-being. Art is a ray of hope, especially in a hospital where everyday life is often characterized by challenges. The connection between art and health is undeniably important - it not only promotes mood, but also a sense of community.
It remains to be hoped that the heartfelt campaign at the Heinrich Braun Clinic will be very popular and that many visitors will be encouraged to vote for their favorite picture. Art in Zwickau can not only inspire amazement, but also help create a feeling of hope and support.
