Refurbishment of the L 1080 in Abtsgmünd: Spading took place, construction starts soon!
Abtsgmünd, Deutschland - On June 4, 2025, the groundbreaking ceremony for the urgently needed renovation of the L 1080 between Rodamsdörfle and Abtsgmünd took place. Mayor Frederick Brütting underlined the extraordinary urgency of the measure due to the poor condition of the street at the event. The construction work officially begins on June 10, 2025, and the planning and financing talks were jointly carried out with the municipality of Abtsgmünd, whereby the country bears the costs. The estimated expenses for the project amount to 800,000 euros, while the actual award is around 450,000 euros.
The first construction phase between Rodamsdörfle and the confluence of the L 1075 should be ended during the Pentecost holidays. During the summer holidays, the section follows the section to the confluence with Abtsgmünd. However, it should be noted that the L 1080 will be fully blocked during the entire construction measure. Residents and road users are asked to consider alternative routes.
construction work and traffic safety
Another aspect of the construction work includes the complete renovation of the Rodamsdörfle town through, which is planned as the last section. Here, channels and pipes are also renewed. The third construction phase, which leads from Rodamsdörfle to Dewangen, becomes more complex and more expensive due to the necessary slope reductions and an extensive road structure, which extends up to two meters deep. The start of this section is scheduled for early 2026.
The temporary full closure of the L 1080 will also have an impact for pedestrians and cyclists. From September 30, 2024 to December 24, 2024, construction work is planned to build a new walking and bike path as well as a funnel in the Hirtenäcker construction area. The affected section extends from the petrol station to the confluence of the Eichklingenstrasse. Detours have already been signposted, and road users are asked to observe them in order to avoid delays.
future of transport infrastructure
These construction projects are part of a larger goal to improve traffic safety in Germany. With its vision of Zero, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure pursues the goal of minimizing accidents in road traffic. The planning and implementation of such infrastructure projects are crucial for the safety of road users. The consideration of traffic safety aspects plays an important role in all phases of the road projects. From design planning to regular security checks, all phases are covered in the life cycle of a street, as the BMV emphasizes.
The city administration of Abtsgmünd and the mayor Andrea Zeißler are positive about the progress in recent years. Zeißler is pleased that after more than ten years, the long -needed renovations are now begining. A high volume of traffic during the ceremony illustrated the need for these construction measures, which in some cases led to interruptions of the speeches.
