Schalke 04 Before changing coaches: Muslics exit meets Plymouth hard!

Plymouth, England - FC Schalke 04 is looking for a new trainer after the club has entered negotiations with Miron Muslic. The conversations between Schalke and Muslic have already progressed well, which has led to anger at its current association, Plymouth Argyle. The latter expressed his disappointment with the talks and emphasized that Muslic had made oral promises to work for Plymouth. The club had recently made its own efforts to hire new players and reacted frustrated to the situation. KSTA reports that Plymouth has confirmed to allow Muslic to talk to a German second division, but not without expressing his displeasure.

Muslic, who has been a coach at Plymouth Argyle since January 2023, has now left the club after only four months. During his time in the championship, Plymouth took the penultimate place, which increased the pressure on Muslic. In the meantime, other clubs such as Hull City, the 1. FC Köln and Hannover 96 have shown interest in the coach, but Schalke seems to be in front. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Schalke wants to activate an exit clause in the Muslic contract to commit it.

reactions by Plymouth Argyle

Plymouth Argyle is understandably disappointed with the upcoming changes. The team had established clear structures and support for Muslic to promote its ambitions and to secure the non -descent from the championship. Nevertheless, Muslic stated that he does not want to return to England and wants to be closer to his family. This could be a strategic advantage for Schalke to bring the trainer to the Veltins-Arena after the conversations with him have progressed. RuHR24 refer to the official confirmation of Schalke 04 canceled while the club is already actively on Muslic.

The use of exit clauses has increased in professional football in recent years. Such clauses allow coaches and players to leave the association under certain conditions before the end of their contracts. The exit clause in the Muslic Treaty is an example of the increasing popularity of such regulations that offer advantages for both the clubs and the trainers. LTO explains that the amount of these clauses can vary and could change over time, based on the remaining term of the contract and the market value of the coach.
