Sailing ship collision in Brunsbüttel: Mrs. Seriously injured!

On Saturday evening there was a dramatic collision between a sailing ship and a tanker in the old south lock in Brunsbüttel. During the incident, the skipper of the sailing yacht was seriously injured when her mast broke at half the height and stuck down parts of the mast. A rescue helicopter immediately brought the seriously injured woman to a hospital in Hamburg.

Both ships suffered significant damage to property due to the collision. While the tanker, which drives under Latvian flag, was able to continue its journey without major impairments, the damaged sailing yacht was still dragged into the Brunsbüttel marina. Due to the severity of the incident, the Cuxhaven water protection police prohibited the onward journey of the sailing yacht and has started the investigation.
