Nude demo in Rottweil: Freedom or breaking taboo on the Naturalist Day?

Rottweil, Deutschland - On June 2, 2025, a demonstration for naturalism took place in Rottweil, which was organized as part of the World Naturalist Day, which was celebrated on June 1st. The approximately 100 -meter -long demonstration train moved down the shopping street from black gate. Participants sang a modified version of the well -known song "The thoughts are free", which ended with the words "The nudists are free". The protest event was organized by Dieter E. Albrecht, a former city council and advocate of nudity, and was already the second of its kind in Rottweil.

At the first implementation of the Rottweiler nude hiking days in 2024, the number of participants had remained low due to the cool temperatures. Despite the challenges that the weather brought with it, Albrecht again rely on the promotion of naturalism this year. The demonstration was found on one day that is celebrated internationally for free body culture, and contributed to strengthening awareness of the right to functional nudity in nature.

World Naturalist Day and its importance

The World Naturalist Day has been organized by the International Naturist Federation (Inf) since 2006. He aims to support the community of the naturalists and to promote the acceptance of nudity in society. The Inf represents the interests of 32 national federation and would like to officially recognize the right to nudity in nature. These celebrations take place annually on the northern hemisphere and on the first Sunday in December in the southern hemisphere.

This year the World Naturalist Day happened to have found a Sunday on June 1st. The planned activities on this day include naked hiking and gardening, which serve to celebrate the way of life without clothing. Naturism has gained popularity worldwide over the years and has been particularly common in countries such as the USA, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

controversy and regulations

In the demonstration in Rottweil, only four people were naked, while ten other participants dressed in black and white to avoid possible conflicts with the nudeness law. Among the requirements that applied to the participants, men had to wear an opaque lumbar spectator and women stick their nipples. These regulations were criticized as "completely incomprehensible" by Albrecht and the chairman Ulrich Thomas Wolfstädter. The campaign resulted in various reactions of the spectators, who praised the initiative, but expressed the wish that all demonstrators would have been naked.

The nude demo called out controversial discussions about nudity in public and dealing with the body. The International Naturalist Federation describes naturalism as a lifestyle that strengthens self-confidence and counteracts body shame without being sexually motivated. On this special day, the community also honored voluntary activists who work for the rights of naturalists.

The framework of action of the World Naturalist Day and the actions based on it illustrate the growing movement of naturalism, which promotes the appreciation of all body forms and a nature-connected lifestyle and strives for more acceptance and respectful coexistence in society.
