Cash for Rares: Rolling Stones autogram achieves 1,200 euros!

In the current episode of "Bares for Rares", which was broadcast on June 8, 2025, an autograph caused excitement from the legendary rock band Rolling Stones. Moderator Horst Lichter was surprised when seller Mechthild presented the rare piece. In 1964 she received this autograph from a friend who had hit the Stones at Heathrow Airport. The signatures of Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman were on the piece, with Mechthild wrote the names underneath, which later caused some discussions.

At the assessment,

expert Annika Raßbach found that Brian Jones's autograph could not be authentic, as he had already died in 1969. Instead, she identified Charlie Watt's autograph, which was also one of the band's famous members. Despite the inconsistencies, Raßbach estimated the lover article on a value of 600 to 1,000 euros. Mechthild expressed the desire to achieve at least 500 euros for her piece, which led to an exciting area round.

The tension in the dealer grew when the bidding, including Wolfgang Pouritsch and Julian Schmitz-Avila, drove up the price. Pouritsch started with an offer of 900 euros, which was increased by Schmitz-Avila to 1,000 euros. Impressed by the moving history with which Mechthild presented the autograph, the two dealers finally pulled all the stops. Ultimately, Schmitz-Avila secured the autograph for 1,200 euros. In his decision, he did not ignore the emotional depth: his father, a big fan of the Rolling Stones, had wished the song "Sympathy for the Devil" for his funeral, which ultimately convinced Pauritsch.

The Rolling Stones themselves look back on an eventful story. Founded in 1962, they quickly gained a world fame and shaped the music scene with hits like "(i can’t get no) satisfaction" and "paint it black". The band, which is known for its characteristic sound and rebellious style, has published numerous albums over the decades and gave countless concerts. The group remains relevant today: On September 6, 2023, they published the single "Angry" and prepared the publication of their new album "Hackney Diamonds" for October 20th.

"Bares for Rares" continues to enjoy great popularity and is broadcast on ZDF Monday to Friday at 3:05 p.m., where spectators keep enjoying getting to know the stories behind unique objects. Today's case around the Rolling Stones autogram is just another example of the fascination, collector's items and their stories.
