Roof work in ashes: Fire department saves house from flaming inferno!
A fire broke out in Ash, more precisely on “Auf der Pfaurade” street, on Saturday around 11:45 a.m. while roofing work was taking place on a building. According to reports from the Göttinger Tageblatt and Fire Department.de, parts of the facade were set on fire, which led to heavy smoke inside the house. Fortunately, the fire was quickly brought under control.
The alerted fire department was there with around 60 emergency services from Asche, Gladebeck, Hardegsen and Hettensen. They opened the affected areas of the facade while several teams, using breathing apparatus, extinguished flaming sources of fire. The first firefighters were on scene after just six minutes, which enabled them to intervene quickly and prevent the flames from spreading to the roof structure or the rest of the building. In order to keep the situation safely under control, the police and the rescue service were also on duty, supported by the rapid response group of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) from Nörten-Hardenberg, which provided important security measures for the fire department. Due to the operation, the road remained completely closed during this time.
Operation details and causes of fire
The fire department's quick action paid off because the fire was prevented from spreading to the entire roof structure. In past operations, such as a similar fire that occurred on March 11, 2020, the firefighters had to take several measures to prevent the fire from spreading. At that time, the emergency services also needed the latest technology, such as thermal imaging cameras, to find hidden embers. In this incident, materials on the facade were affected and damage to the building was estimated at 80,000 euros.
Statistics show that fires are a recurring problem during renovation work. Information from the Feuer-Trutz network underlines the need to pay particular attention to fire protection measures in construction and renovation projects. Missing or insufficient fire statistics further illustrate how important comprehensive data is for improving fire protection. Regular updates of these statistics would help to better prepare for possible causes of fires and, above all, to increase the safety of residents.
For the residents of Asche, it is a fortunate circumstance that the fire was extinguished in time and there were no injuries. Nevertheless, the topic of fire protection remains an important topic in our region that should not be lost sight of.
