Heiligenstadt shooters win title at state championship!
There is joy and excitement in Heiligenstadt because the Heiligenstadt team qualified for the German championship at the 32nd state championship in hunting shooting on June 21st in Aga near Gera - a remarkable 28th team victory![ Thuringian General ] The team, consisting of Luis Petri, Matthias Schatz, Matthias Hartung, Kurt Müller, Josef Herwig, Gerhard Weinrich and Kai Weinrich, showed an impressive performance. The individual placings are particularly noteworthy: Luis Petri secured 3rd place in the junior category, while Gerhard Weinrich took 2nd place in the senior ranking. Kai Weinrich crowned the championship by leading the open rifle class as national champion.
The German Championships will take place in Buke in September, where the Heiligenstadt team will be hoping to continue their impressive form and hold their own against Germany's best shooters.

Heiligenstadt offers not only sporting but also cultural highlights. On July 6th there will be a spa concert in the Heiligenstadt spa park. The brass band “Junge Harzer Blasmusik” entertains from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a mixture of traditional brass music and entertaining rock and pop pieces – admission is free! Sales in leisure activities are supplemented by events such as the rock and blues night in Mühlhausen on July 5th. With bands like Engerling and the Albert Frost Trio, visitors are sure to experience an unforgettable evening.[ Thuringian General ]

The population is still characterized by a high average age: 44% of citizens are over 55 years old, which further increases the challenges on the labor market.
