Creativity and adventure: Project week at St. Josef-Gymnasium!
Things get down to business at St. Josef-Gymnasium in Dingelstädt! The project week starts today under the exciting motto "Let's go! Let's go! Vamos! Allez-y!". The students are invited to live out their creativity and express themselves through practical work in various subject areas. Exciting areas such as sport and healthy nutrition, natural sciences and technology as well as creativity and nature are available. In total, they can choose from 13 projects, including popular formats such as “Wool World”, “Constructing and Printing 3D Models” and “Programming Robots”, as [thueringer- Allgemeine.de](https://www.thueringer- Allgemeine.de/lokales/eichsfeld/article409432558/news-fuer-den-landkreis-eichsfeld.html) reports.
The feedback from the students is consistently positive! Johannes and Clara from the 8th grade were enthusiastic about the practical content and the opportunity to organize the end of the school year so creatively. Headmaster Evelin Schotte-Grebenstein emphasizes how important it is to further develop the project format in order to enable students to learn in a varied way. At the end of the week everyone is invited to marvel at the results of the group work in a celebratory presentation, followed by a liturgy of the word on the picturesque Kerbschen Berg.
Diverse events in Eichsfeld
But things aren't just on offer in Dingelstädt! A fair with colorful events will take place in Mengelrode from July 17th to 21st, including a cup tournament and lively dance music. Another highlight is the reopening of the Catholic parish church of St. Andreas in Teistungen on August 17th, which, after renovation work, will be celebrated with a festive pontifical service and a subsequent parish festival.
For all those who are interested in health and well-being, the Eichsfeld Clinic is offering a free home nursing course for family caregivers from October 20th to November 17th. In addition, a blue light day on August 13th in Nordhausen invites people to get to know professions in the field of protection and security better. Anyone who loves nature can go on a hike with alternative practitioner Elke Kusum Hanstein on July 11th and learn more about the health benefits of the cherry tree.
Educational trips and volunteer services for young people
And education is not neglected either! In the first week of the new school year, the 8th grade students head to England. Staying with host families, they get to explore the south Wales coastal towns of Whitstable and Herne Bay, while two day trips to London and a visit to Canterbury are on the agenda. The students have the opportunity to experience sights such as St. Paul’s Cathedral or Big Ben up close. This trip is also used to prepare for an oral exam in English, which replaces the first class test, as kapu-bocholt.de explains.
For all those who would like to get involved internationally, there is the European Solidarity Corps. Young people aged 17 and over can take advantage of the opportunity to get involved in social projects abroad. Volunteers take on tasks in children's homes or in refugee projects and not only receive basic costs covered, but also many supportive offers, as bundesregierung.de describes.
Overall, there is a colorful picture in Eichsfeld, where both educational offerings and local events ensure variety and engagement. The projects and activities represent a community that is both creative and socially active - a truly welcoming community!
