Erfurt Krämerbrückenfest: 700 years of celebrations with top security!
The 48th Krämerbrückenfest in Erfurt, which took place from June 13th to 15th, 2025, was not only a feast for the senses, but also an impressive homage to the 700-year-old stone Krämerbrücke, which, at 120 meters, is considered the longest built bridge in Europe. The event, which was celebrated in the picturesque old town of Erfurt, offered a variety of attractions and once again attracted large crowds of visitors. In total, the guests experienced over 150 program items, spread across more than 300 artists, as well as around 50 musical performances characterized by regional talent. Particular attention was paid to the anniversary stage, where numerous Erfurt musicians thrilled the audience, in addition to culinary delicacies and exciting participatory activities.
A picturesque highlight of the event was the special art installation on the Krämerbrücke, which amazed many visitors under the theme “The invisible becomes visible”. The city of Erfurt not only focused on the celebrations, but also increased security precautions due to recent events in Germany. Again MDR Reportedly, the festival went off without any notable incidents. The police, fire brigade and security services were on site and reported that the security measures worked well.
Safety first
The tightened security concept was developed in response to past incidents such as the rampage at the Magdeburg Christmas market. This included a complete closure of the city center to car traffic, which took effect from Friday afternoon. The Day24 reported on the temporary access to Marktstrasse from various streets, which were blocked and rerouted for the event. Residents were asked to adapt to these changes and prefer to use public transport.
With a colorful street festival from the Brühler Garden to the Krämerbrücke, there was something for every visitor. Art, culture and an extensive culinary offering magically attracted people. Last year around 120,000 visitors were counted, and the festival was also very well received in 2025. The city of Erfurt not only celebrated an anniversary, but also once again established itself as a cultural center and a hall for rich traditions. The official program encompassed everything your heart desired and reinforced the importance of this old town festival for the region.
