Price increase in the Erfurt Zoo: New tariffs from August 2025!

Erfurt, Deutschland - On August 1, 2025, the Erfurt zoo attracts prices and adapts its ticket prices after a comprehensive evaluation. The city council decided on June 25, 2023. Zoochef Jan Schleinitz justifies the price adjustment with the increased costs, which have grown considerably since the last adjustment in April 2019. This means that the Thuringian Zoopark remains one of the cheapest zoos in Germany despite the new prices. The zoo generates around 2.7 million euros annually through ticket sales and receives an urban subsidy of 4.5 million euros, which also serves to cover the operating costs.

For the new prices, it is concrete from August:

  • Adults: 17 euros (previously 15 euros)
  • reduced: 12 euros (previously 10 euros)
  • Children: 9.50 euros (previously 7.50 euros)
  • Families 1 (two adults, two to five children): 45 euros (previously 40 euros)
  • Families 2 (two adults, one child): 40 euros (previously 35 euros)
  • Families 3 (an adult, two to four children): 31 euros (previously 26 euros)
  • Families 4 (an adult, one child): 25 euros (previously 20 euros)
  • group card: 15 euros (previously 12 euros)
  • dog: 5 euros (previously 3.50 euros)

The new annual ticket prices also increase:

  • Adults: 45 euros (previously 40 euros)
  • reduced: 30 euros (stays the same)
  • Children: 20 euros (stay the same)
  • Families: 90 euros (previously 80 euros)
  • dog: 25 euros (previously 23 euros)

The increase primarily affects the day tickets: individuals have to pay 2 euros more, while families are asked to pay for 5 euros more. For groups, the zoo offers a saving of 2 euros compared to the day. Erfurt citizens can benefit from discounted offers, e.g. B. through the family pass or special prices for kindergartens.

measures for the future

As part of a larger plan, the price adjustment will help combat deficits and to secure the business ability of the zoo. The zoo plans to create new animal facilities, including a panda for the red panda, and to renovate existing systems such as the rhino house and the cheetah. In addition, a focus is on improving the visitor service.

Erfurt seniors with a senior passport may take a one -time 10% discount on the daily ticket from July 1, 2025. These measures are necessary to cover the increased costs since 2019 and to receive the attractiveness of the zoo as a destination.
