There was a fire in the self-help workshop “Soliradisch” in Magdeburg, which may have been politically motivated. The fire department was alerted on Monday after the fire broke out on the premises on Maybachstrasse. Fortunately, quick action by the emergency services prevented the flames from spreading to neighboring structures, such as the carport and the workshop. However, several pieces of seating were completely destroyed in the incident. The operators of the workshop also discovered painted symbols, including swastikas and SS runes, which indicate the suspected right-wing extremist motivation for the fire. “Soliradisch” itself plays an important role in the community, as the workshop was founded in 2015 to help refugees and financially weak people. Old bicycles are repaired here, which is increasingly important in times of increasing mobility needs.
