Rostock gymnasts shine with silver at the tournament in Gera!

Last weekend, the gymnasts from HTV Rostock showed an impressive performance at the 19th Open Tournament in Gera, Thuringia and were rewarded with several silver medals. The competition, which took place on June 21, 2025, attracted six clubs and offered exciting competitions in various age groups. The setting was characterized by the grace and physical control typical of rhythmic gymnastics.

In the age group of the youngest participants, the 11 to 12 year olds, the audience longed for outstanding performances. Irina Shevchenko from HTV Rostock shone here, not only winning the silver medal but also achieving the highest score of the day in her age group without a handheld device. Her teammates Yuna Castillo and Julina Dutz had to settle for fourth and fifth place. A strong result for the young talents!

Successful placements in the middle age groups

But that wasn't all: in the 13 to 15 year old age group, the Rostock girls delivered real fireworks. They took places two to six, with only Nicole Ruf from Team Thuringia able to overtake them. The placings in this strong age group were as follows:

  • 2. Platz: Sophie Davydova
  • 3. Platz: Isabel Freyhof
  • 4. Platz: Alexandra Shevchenko
  • 5. Platz: Pauline Kreutzer
  • 6. Platz: Lina Stumpf
  • 8. Platz: Lia Runge

The team was also represented in the highest age group, which consisted of demanding exercises with two hand-held devices. Team Thuringia triumphed here with a lead of 1.30 points, while Anna-Katharina Lewin from HTV secured the silver medal behind Giulia Kirmse. Siri Suppliet achieved a solid fifth place in the all-around.

A heartfelt thank you

Coach Anke Radke was proud of her protégés' achievements and congratulated the winning Thuringia team. A special thank you also went to the organizer, TSV 1880 Gera-Zwörtzen, who ensured a successful event.

The Rostock gymnasts will continue next Saturday; The next competition is on the program at the PSV open club championship in Schwerin. The anticipation of new challenges is certainly great.

Rhythmic gymnastics, which has become increasingly important since its Olympic premiere in Los Angeles in 1984, requires not only dancing talent, but also a high level of physical control. The athletes have further refined their skills in recent years, and it remains exciting to see how the next competitions will develop for Rostock's talents.
