Spherical sounds in the boiler house: final chamber concert of the season!

On Sunday, June 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., the last chamber concert of the season will take place in the Heizhaus Altenburg, and it promises to be a very special event. Under the title “Spherical Sounds for Harp and Ensemble”, the talented harpist Liane Pinquart will present the audience with some musical delicacies. The members of the Altenburg Gera Philharmonic Orchestra will provide her with active support and will put on a varied program together with her.

This concert will impress not only with the great performance of the harp player, but also with the variety of the works performed. The program includes French and Belgian compositions, including pieces by Eugène Ysaÿe and Albert Roussel, as well as poignant melodies by Astor Piazzolla. Particularly noteworthy are works such as the “Sonata No. 2 for violin solo” by Ysaÿe and the “Suite op. 34” by Marcel Tournier, which are arranged for harp, flute and string trio.

A true celebration of chamber music

The Philharmonic Orchestra's intimate chamber concerts have earned an excellent reputation in the region. Here the musicians themselves design the programs and play their personal favorite pieces, making every concert an extraordinary experience. In this sense, the motto of the upcoming concert is to showcase the deep emotions and the beauty of sound of harp music. Concertos with harp are often rarer, as only a few works were composed for harp and orchestra in the Baroque and Classical periods, which has improved significantly in modern times, not least due to the invention of the double pedal mechanism in 1811.

For everyone who doesn't want to miss this musical highlight: tickets are available now. Tickets can be reserved at the theater box office or by telephone on 0365 8279105 (Gera) or 03447 585160 (Altenburg). Of course, online purchases are also possible www.theater-altenburg-gera.de possible.

A look at the composers

The pieces to be performed come from a number of important composers. Among them isJacques Ibert, who surprises with his work “Entr’acte for flute and harp”. Marcel Tournier, from whom there are several contributions in the concert, offers a deep insight into the color diversity of his music with his “Promenade a l’Automne” and the above-mentioned Suite op. 34. Also the composition “Café 1930” byAstor Piazzollawill create a special atmosphere and impressively present the diversity of the harp. For music lovers who want to learn even more about harp compositions, the comprehensive list of works is on Wikipedia a must visit.

The chamber concert in the Altenburg heating house is not just another musical event, but a meeting of talents, the expression of passion and the opportunity to experience the gentle sound world of the harp in all its splendor.
