History journey: Experience Thuringia and strengthen togetherness!
The Heimatfreunde Rohrbach recently looked back on a fascinating spring trip to Thuringia. Under the motto "From local and regional history into the late Middle Ages and early modern times", the group completed a four -day excursion that led them to the historical treasures of this diverse region. The destinations included Eisenach, Weimar, Erfurt, Bad Frankenhausen and Gotha, and there was a lot to discover.
On the first day, the trip started with a city tour through Eisenach, which is known for its cultural peculiarities. A highlight was a visit to the Bachhaus, followed by a touching concert with baroque music - music that took visitors on another journey through time. The Wartburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a place of the highest historical scope, was also on the program. Here Martin Luther translated the New Testament into German, an event that was of enormous importance for the German language and the culture. The travelers particularly admired the imposing singing hall, in which a fresco of Moritz von Schwind represents the legendary singing war, which took place in 1207 and united significant personalities of the minimum fishing time, as Walter von der Vogelweide and Wolfram von Eschenbach.
Weimar and its classics
The second day brought the group to Weimar, a city that is closely connected to Weimar classical. Significant places of literature and culture were visited here, which are closely linked to the names Goethe, Schiller and Herder. A significant stop was the historic cemetery, where the big poets are buried. In addition, the participants explored hidden gardens and backyards of the city, which invites them with their special charm.
On the third day, the path led to the Panorama Museum in Bad Frankenhausen, where Werner Tübke's impressive round painting captivated the visitors. The Erfurt cathedral, another highlight, impressed not only with its Gothic baptismal basin, but also with the symbolic sky ladder, which amazed visitors.
A look at Gotha
The end of the trip was a tour of Gotha, the former residence city with its lovingly preserved old town. Here the home friends not only experienced the architecture of past times, but also how much the local history is interwoven with the German identity. The entire trip not only offered the participants insight into German history, but also strengthened the sense of community - what more could one want?
In summary, it can be said that the journey through Thuringia was much more for the home friends Rohrbach than just an excursion. It was a springboard in the past, in places that are of great cultural and historical importance. The Wartburg, as an architectural masterpiece of the feudal period and symbol for the national unit, impressively described the historical connection between Luther and the German language, as UNESCO. An experience that you don't forget so quickly!Details | |
