Greiz is on the move: clubs are forging community in the heart of the city!
On August 14, 2025, the third Vereinsmeier meeting of the GreizErLeben e.V. association took place on the grounds of the Greizer Vereinsbrauerei. With 14 participating clubs from the city of Greiz, the event was a lively meeting point for exchange and collaboration. The aim was to promote club life and integrate new faces into the community. Again Vogtland mirror reported that there was a warm atmosphere characterized by open encounters.
A central point of the discussion was the cooperation between the clubs and the city of Greiz. Steffen Magdeburg, the city's economic development officer, emphasized the importance of the clubs as “the heart of our city”. The aim was to increase the visibility of the clubs and their events and to tackle common challenges. Topics such as the use of funding opportunities and the installation of modern public toilets were also addressed. The lively and constructive discussions showed the clubs' great commitment in areas such as sport, culture and social issues.
Focus on funding opportunities
The meeting also made clear the importance of financial support for the association's work. According to information from the Greiz district There are numerous grants that are made available to promote voluntary work in Thuringia. Cities, municipalities and district associations are eligible to apply and must submit original invoices or receipts as well as factual reports for the funding applications.
A new funding program was launched on August 11, 2025 and provides between 5,000 and 100,000 euros for non-profit associations and initiatives. Applications can be submitted until September 15, 2025, which opens up additional opportunities for many clubs to promote events, attract young talent and further training. The Thuringian State Office has passed Germany's first voluntary work law, which regulates the framework conditions for promoting voluntary work.
A place for ideas and exchange
The Vereinsmeiertreffen has established itself as a permanent institution to strengthen the associations' network work and create synergies. In a relaxed atmosphere over a glass of Greiz beer, not only were challenges addressed, but many ideas for the future were also collected. The collected suggestions and the great commitment of the clubs contribute to the further stimulation of club life in Greiz.
Networking and joint action thus became the cornerstone of success. The event impressively showed how important exchange among each other is for the development of the community and that there is still a lot of potential in Greiz. At the end of the day everyone agreed: together we can achieve more.
