In a pleasant message for pupils in the ILM district, something very special is offered this summer: in 2025 you can travel by bus and train through Thuringia free of charge. The district has decided to cover the costs for the student holiday ticket. This applies in particular to those pupils who do not receive a German ticket through the circle, such as Insuedthueringen.de reported.

The decision to continue this project in such a positive response was confirmed by District Administrator Petra Enders. Their commitment shows that youth promotion and the expansion of public transport enjoy high priority.

The summer vacation starts in Thuringia on June 28th and last until August 10, 2025. The student holiday ticket, which is available for 32 euros, offers the students the opportunity to use all buses, railways and trams throughout the federal state. If you only want to travel smaller routes, you can fall back on the Mini student holiday ticket, which is available for only 16 euros. The ticket is ideal for students who plan to freshen up during the holidays, as it is on the website of Bus & Bahn Thuringia.

A total of over 40 transport companies are involved in this initiative, which is intended to promote the mobility of children and adolescents in the region. The offer is also supported by the Free State of Thuringia, which is an additional sign for the beautiful cohesion in the region.

At the same time, the pre-sale for the new senior ticket in the ILM district is going very well. 650 tickets have already been sold before the offer officially begins. From July 1st, seniors can travel to bus and train with their ticket, a discounted variant of the Germany ticket. At the same time, pensioners saves 18 euros per month: Instead of the usual 49 euros, the senior ticket costs only 31 euros. mdr.de reported that a total of 110,000 euros are planned for this ticket.

The high demand is gratifying and after -production is already being planned if the 1,000 pieces in advance are not sufficient. With around 28,000 people in the ILM district, which are 65 or older, the target group is quite large and the decision to continue the ticket is made at the end of the year.
