Future of the Thuringian Arc: Plans for regional management are pending!

The regional management between the Ilm district and the Gotha district is facing a change. The cooperation, which was launched seven years ago, ends on July 31, 2027, after the Ilm district was initially able to operate such management on its own. During this time, the regional management gave decisive impulses for the development of the “Thuringian Arc”. inSüdthüringen reports that funding from the Free State of Thuringia will also end when this cooperation expires.

The plans for the future development of this unique region were recently presented to the district council's committee for construction, economy and transport. The district council will discuss these plans next week, and the community is excited to see the decisions that will be made.

What makes the Thuringian Arch special?

The Thüringer Bogen is not just a geographical region - it is a landmark for young and old. Families, entrepreneurs, investors, schoolchildren and students find numerous opportunities for personal development and development here. The Thüringer Bogen website provides comprehensive information about the region, location and infrastructure, promising economic sectors and offers in the areas of research and development. The platform is also a contact point for educational and professional opportunities as well as a job and internship exchange that presents job offers in the region. Anyone who is interested is invited to submit suggestions to further improve the region, as can be found on thueringer-bogen.de.

But it's not just about professional prospects. Leisure activities are also not neglected, because the Thüringer Bogen has something to offer for everyone. The region is aimed not only at people who want to live or work here, but also at holidaymakers who want to discover what the region has to offer.

Demographic change and mobility

In view of demographic change, which does not stop at the Thuringian Arch, mobility is an important topic. The region, like many rural areas in Germany, is faced with challenges in local public transport. There is often a lack of offers that make getting around easier for all sections of the population, especially for people with limited mobility. Many rely on taxis or neighbors, which incurs additional costs.

This is where a planned study comes into play that will examine citizen bus projects. These initiatives could complement local public transport as alternative mobility options. Legal, organizational and business framework conditions are considered. Issues of accessibility and the use of electromobility and autonomous driving are also of great importance. The results of this study should not only serve as a guide for the public, but also provide recommendations for the implementation and operation of such projects, informs the Thuringian state government.

The region is therefore at a turning point that presents both challenges and opportunities. How those involved will develop the Thuringian Arch in the coming years remains to be seen. Planning is underway and there is great hope that the region will continue to be an attractive place to live for everyone.
