a festival of diversity

The "Fête de la Musique" has been celebrated worldwide since 1982 and has expanded to over 1,000 cities in 120 countries since then. It is not just about the big stars among the musicians, but above all about the art of making music in all their facets. Amateur- as well as professional musicians, are welcome to participate and bring their music to the streets. This is done without entry costs, so that musicality is accessible to everyone. The alleys, footpaths and squares of Jenas will be transformed into a musical experience on June 21st and invite everyone to listen and celebrate.

Jena itself has been part of this global celebration since 2013 and has thus joined the international day of music. As reported visit-jena.de, the number of participants has increased continuously in recent years and contribute to the lively culture of the city.

a global phenomenon

Interestingly, the "Fête de la Musique" is not only available in Jena. Cities around the world take part, and the event has different names in many non-French-speaking countries; Many translate the event into national language, such as the "Make Music Day". In Berlin, too, the festival is celebrated on the streets, where Open Air works until 10 p.m., followed by the "Fête de la Nuit" in clubs and bars. The organization of these events is usually based on the help of local musicians and the musicboard Berlin, which is financed by public funds. This shows how well music and community belong together worldwide.

On June 21, the chances are good that the streets of Jenas will pulsate in harmony with the music. Regardless of whether you prefer jazz sounds, pop or the latest beats, something is offered for every taste. So if you are still looking for a Sunday walk with your ear feast, you should paint this appointment red in the calendar.
