Anne Kleibrink trains at the fencing event in Nordhausen!

Fencing and youth development are the focus of this year's event in Nordhausen. The FSC Nordhausen welcomes the German fencing youth as part of the allstar summer tour 2025. The event takes place in the Wiedigsburghalle and promises exciting activities for young athletes.

A special highlight is Anne Kleibrink, the best foil fencer in Germany and the only German Olympian at Paris 2024. Kleibrink not only brings her experience and passion for fencing, but will also actively train with the fencers from Nordhausen. Her impressive career includes numerous achievements, including winning the first World Cup in 2022 and the first Grand Prix victory in Shanghai 2023, placing her among the top international fencing leaders since 2022.

Diverse activities

Participants can look forward to a full program. In addition to the training, various workshops are on the agenda. An autograph and question time with Anne Kleibrink is also on offer, so that young fencers have the opportunity to learn personally from the Olympian. In the evening there will be a surprise party to round off the day.

The event takes place this weekend, with professional fencing training on Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This training is offered free of charge in the Wiedigsburghalle, and anyone interested in fencing is warmly invited to watch and experience the dynamics of this fascinating sport.

The sport of fencing in general

Fencing is not just a sport, but also a piece of history. The roots go back to ancient Egypt and have evolved since then. Fighting takes place with types of swords such as foil, rapier and saber, each with its own rules. These disciplines have had a permanent place in the Olympic family since the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 and are enjoying ever-increasing popularity.

For Anne Kleibrink, it is not only an opportunity to show off her skills, but also to pass on values such as self-confidence and power to the next generations. With her training as a personal trainer, she supports young athletes on their path to success in competitive sports.

Nordhausen is one of four stations that Kleibrink is visiting this year, alongside Greifswald, Cologne and Delmenhorst. Her dedication, both in competition and in supporting young talent, makes her a role model for many.

Overall, this event will not only enrich sport, but also strengthen social cohesion and a sense of community. It's worth stopping by and immersing yourself in the world of fencing, which embodies tradition and innovation at the same time. Further information about the sport can be found at Olympics.
