Confusion in front of Oberlinder Kirchweih: diversion route causes chaos
There will be a lot going on in Oberlind next weekend, July 21st and 22nd, 2025. The Oberlinder Kirchweih is just around the corner, but traffic conditions are causing confusion. There is a road closure sign at the Unterlind junction that is giving some road users a headache, reports Municipal website of Sonneberg. The good news: A traffic regulation that was changed at short notice has already solved the problem.
The diversion route for the Oberlind district is regulated via the Unterlind construction site until Monday morning, July 21, 2025, at 7:30 a.m. One-way traffic is permitted, although access to the town center, the Kirchweih grounds and the sports field is possible via the B89/B4 intersection, Unterlind and Flutmulde. From Monday, traffic from the direction of Müß via Ackerstrasse will be reopened, and Thomas-Müntzer-Strasse will also be accessible again from Tuesday.
Conditions in the Sonneberg district
But Oberlind is not the only affected area in the Sonneberg district. Here, too, there are a few things to consider due to major traffic disruptions. The Neustadt bei Coburg junction on the A73 will be closed until July 25, 2025 due to the renovation of the B4. Road users in the direction of Suhl are diverted at the Ebersdorf junction near Coburg and must prepare for diversions to Neustadt and Sonneberg. Less pleasing: the B4 will also be completely closed.
The B89 in the Sonneberg bypass will also remain fully closed from the Malmerz/Föritz roundabout to the B4/Unterlind intersection until July 31, 2025, with a diversion via the town of Sonneberg. The B89 in Bachfeld will also be completely closed until the end of the year, which will also complicate the bypasses.
Road closures in the region
A lot will be expected of road users in the next few weeks. The L1148 in Steinach is closed until July 26, 2025, while the L2657 in Frankenblick is impassable until August 8, 2025. The Effelder market square, however, will be closed to traffic from July 7th to 15th, 2025. With all these changes in road conditions, all road users should pay particular attention.
For current information about road construction sites and any further closures, it is worth visiting the website Sonneberg district or at stau.info. Here you can always stay up to date on how to travel safely through the region.
There is good news not only because of the upcoming fair, but also because of the continuously opened roads and thus the better traffic flow in the region. However, attention and patience are still required in the coming weeks!
