"Agathe" is implemented in selected social rooms and offers a variety of support and meeting offers. In the districts of Altenburger Land, Gotha, Ilm-Kreis and many others, those affected have the opportunity to participate in these programs, and also in the independent cities of Erfurt, Gera, and Jena are available. The initiators offer discussions in which seniors can invite a close person to support - an important aspect, because community has always been very important.
Another advantage of the program is the flexibility: the conversations can be ended at any time so that there are no obligations in the room. This facilitates access and could lead to more older people finding help to take advantage of help. The upcoming steps of the Wartburg district are therefore not only important, but also urgently required.
long -term goals and support
The program not only has a short -term goal in mind, but also aims on a sustainable basis for social work with older people. The aim is to create basic structures that make it possible not only to create spaces for encounters, but also to improve the life situation of older people. This happens, among other things, by low-threshold counseling and educational offers that are supposed to strengthen the participation of over 60 years.
The strengthening of regional networks and promoting voluntary engagement are other central aspects that will be brought into focus in the coming months. The EU funding supports such models by the European Social Fund (ESF) in order to implement projects to combat social isolation. The documents for the application are available on the Bafza website and should be submitted by the end of July.
The developments in the Wartburg district show that a good hand is being set for the concerns of older people. It remains exciting how the "Agathe" program will develop on site. Especially in times when social isolation is an increasingly pressing problem, such an initiative can make a valuable contribution to social interaction.
