Wages for scaffolders in the Wartburg district are rising – good news for trainees!

A lot has happened in the scaffolding trade in the Wartburg district in the last few weeks. There is positive news for the 24 scaffolders in the region: from November 2023 there will be a wage increase of 7.5%. This means around 225 euros more per month for experienced journeymen, which is good business, especially in these times. Some may say that it was high time, because the conditions under which the scaffolders work are often anything but easy - whether in wind and weather, hot or cold, they make an indispensable contribution to facade painting, roofing and even church tower renovations. How eisenachonline.de reported, there will be another wage increase in autumn 2024.

But it's not just income that's increasing. The minimum wage will also be raised to at least 14.35 euros per hour from January 1, 2024 - an increase of 40 cents. The industry also has good news for trainees. From now on, apprentices can look forward to higher salaries, which will increase significantly over the years:

  • 1.125 Euro im ersten Ausbildungsjahr
  • 1.300 Euro im zweiten Ausbildungsjahr
  • 1.550 Euro im dritten Ausbildungsjahr

Outlook for the coming years

Looking to the future, the plans for training allowances and the minimum wage are also promising. From January 1, 2026, the minimum wage will rise again to 14.35 euros and to 14.90 euros the following year. This is not only a plus for existing employees, but also an incentive for new skilled workers who are urgently needed. From the point of view of Ralf Eckardt, representative of the BAU Thuringia industrial union, the collective agreement that has been concluded is a decisive step towards increasing the attractiveness of the scaffolding trade.

An important innovation that will come into force next year is the introduction of a collective summer loss allowance. Companies can apply for this support between May and August, which could be particularly important for smaller companies. In addition, the additional pension will also be increased by 10% - another plus point for the employees.

A breather for the industry

Careers that suffer from extreme weather conditions abound in construction. Informs about the challenges that scaffolders have to overcome geruestbauhandwerk.de highlights that the definition of extreme weather conditions will correspond to the applicable rules of the framework collective agreement. This shows that the industry wants to address important issues in order to secure employees in the long term and attract new talent.

The development is rounded off by a simplified calculation of the wage compensation, which particularly focuses on part-time workers. All of these changes are making the scaffolding trade increasingly more attractive and show that you have a good knack for making the necessary adjustments. For the scaffolders in the Wartburg district and beyond, this is a small but important sign in a positive direction.
